Technological Transformation of HR

The transformation will focus on bringing all HR tools together with the best products in the HR technology marketplace and unique solutions available within the organization.

Today HR is still seen as an operational function in majority of the organizations. The hire-to-retire cycle still holds in its entirety however a lot has changed over the years in terms of technology and landscape.

Technological transformation has touched every aspect of today’s society with the accessibility to information via mobile devices and somehow HR seems to have fallen behind to embrace it. It’s not that HR has ignored the technology aspect completely and in fact, used robust HCM products from big software vendors like Oracle to SAP that were focused on the enterprise resource planning area more than the employee experience. These systems have evolved in the last 10 years since 2013 with a focus on cloud adoption.

So where is the gap today when it comes to HR making the big leap in technology and being more than just an operational partner?

In my experience, the lack of integration between HR systems and key enterprise tools in Finance, IT, and business tools creates this broken experience for HR practitioners and employees.

HR needs to have a real-time pulse of what’s happening with the employees, managers, and the business.

This is where the technological transformation comes into the picture.

  • An application tracking system (ATS) focused on getting the best talent while providing a seamless experience to the candidates during the sourcing process.
  • An Onboarding experience for employees focused on learning about the culture of the organization rather than the mundane tasks.
  • Easy benefits and payroll services focused on providing employees with top-of-the-line experience.
  • Tools to track real-time employee engagement and pulse throughout the year.
  • Learning and Development based on the employee career path progression in the organization that helps employees’ careers and the organization’s growth at the same time.
  • People Analytics System that can pull insights on talent acquisition, retention, turnover, engagement, and workforce planning metrics in one place.

The transformation will focus on bringing all these tools together with the best products in the HR technology marketplace and unique solutions available within the organization. Another big focus will be the HR data integrity that is governed at each data inception point and provides the true picture of activities in each business area.

With this kind of transformation, HR leadership can make a big impact on the growth and sustainability of the organization while promoting a good culture and better employee experience.

The time has never been so crucial for HR to make this big leap towards change, and this can happen with the help of technological transformation.
